Microsoft: In China, Windows Phone beat iPhone

Two months after the launch of the first Windows Phone platform in China through Nokia Lumia 800C and 610C, Microsoft claims that Windows-based mobile phone sales has beat Apple iPhone sales.



As quoted from VR-Zone, Microsoft Chief Operating Officer for China Regional, Michel van der Bel said that Windows Mobile now has market share in China by 7 percent, or slightly higher than the iPhone product market share by 6 percent.

If proven true, the claim also shows that Apple is having trouble selling products in China, which is characterized by a decline in market share.

Between July to September 2011, the iPhone still control 10.4 percent market share in China. That number dropped to 7.5 percent in October-December 2011 and is now allegedly has decreased further to 6 percent.

Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak made a statement that makes Microsoft proud. Steve Wozniak has been trying Nokia Lumia 900 that already use OS Windows Phone, and the result is not too disappointing. In an interview, Wozniak talked about how Microsoft has made an intuitive platform that is easy to use and have beautiful interface. He also called Windows Phone can not be compared with Android Tablet.

"I think Windows Phone has superior and interesting visual appearance," Wozniak said, as quoted from The Next Web, Sunday (29/04/2012).

Wozniak fascination to Windows Phone also added with his statement saying the beauty of this platform engineered by Apple people that are paid for by Microsoft.

Microsoft has registered new patent that is truly groundbreaking. The patent is system that supports two sides screen technology for smartphone and tablets. The technology is different from flip smartphone with two screens that existed before, such as  Communicator series from Nokia.

Two sides screen that is developed is the screen actually being on the front and back of the phone. Thus, rear panel which is usually used to cover the battery, replaced by the screen. This makes the smartphone having two faces.

Microsoft releases Skype for Windows Phone

Microsoft has launched Skype for Windows Phone. Skype version 1.0 is already available in Windows Phone Marketplace. Application that has size 6.0 Mb is free and able to run on the operating system Windows Phone 7.5 or higher.


Skype 1.0 for Windows Phone can run on Wi-Fi or 3G networks. The presence of the Skype application was formally introduced to replace the beta version at the end of February 2012. Skype 1.0 has the ability to find and add new contacts directly connected to the contact list on the phone.

Users can make Skype calls directly from your contacts list on phones when Skype is active. Microsoft is expected to integrate Skype with upcoming Windows Phone, namely Windows Phone 8.
