Android Phones still Dominates in United States and Europe

Mobile phones with Android operating system still dominates. Recent data indicate that Android OS become the most widely used by people in United States and Europe. Android's market share in several countries like  United States, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Australia has achieved 50%. This was revealed in a research of smartphone sales during the last 12 weeks by the research firm Kantar Worldpanel Comtech.



In all the countries mentioned above, Android is the most popular OS. The lowest penetration in Italy with 49.6% and the highest in Spain with a percentage of 84.1%.

"We see Android sales growth fueled by consumers who swap their phone to smartphone. Android platform today is the easiest to upgrade. Smartphone users stated that the price and multimedia capabilities as the main reason for choosing Android devices," said Dominic Sunnebo, director of Comtech.

An application research firm, Localytics has published the results of  their research about the use of the application on the mobile platform  Tuesday ago (6/26/2012). Their findings indicate that iOS application are more frequently used than Android application. It can be said that Android users only download the applications but rarely to use it.

The findings were based on retention figures app or how often an application is used. This figure is important for application developers  to know that their application is actually used after has been downloaded.

Users who access Facebook from the phone often have to pause while reading the "Newsfeed" to see the photos that are not apparent because of the small thumbnail images.


Inconvenience is now only the past. As reported by PetaPixel, Facebook has just announced changes to the user interface for Facebook Mobile (http://m.facebook.com) as well Facebook application on Android devices and iOS.

Facebook faces changes include thumbnails images that are now larger, up to the edge of the screen, making it easier to be viewed without having to click first. Thumbnail photos of the album size are also increase.

This view is supposedly inspired by Instagram interface that was acquired by Facebook, some time ago.

Shifting trends indicate that there are more users to access Facebook form mobile device is suppose to be the reason why Facebook needs to change the look of their mobile site interface.

With a new look, users do not get tired when looking at Newsfeed and pictures. This will be a positive influence on the ads that appear on Facebook mobile version.

Thai Government Buy 400 Thousand Android Tablet Scopad SP0712 for Education

Thai government has approved the purchase of 400 thousand units Android tablet, Scopad for education purpose. The total budget spent on the project of the procurement of tablet for education reach US $ 32.8 million.



Unlike India government that buy cheaper branded tablet, Aakash at price of $ 35, Thailand want to buy more qualified tablet to ensure that the hardware and software can support teaching and learning activities of the students.

The tablet that Thai government purchased is Scopad SP0712 that manufactured by vendors from China, Shenzen Scope. The tablet is priced U.S. $ 81 per unit, with specification of 7-inch screen, 1.2 GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory and using Android operating system 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Android mobile operating system that now has achieved  success is turn out ever have large losses. Losses occurred in every quarter throughout 2010. This was revealed in the trial between Oracle and Google in United States, Thursday (05/03/2012). In a hearing, U.S. District Judge William Alsup read a piece of data on Android financial statements provided by Google. "Android causing huge losses during the year," Alsup said aloud.


However, Alsup did not say the exact amount of such losses. Google was reluctant to reveal their financial information. Google just say, Android operating system was launched in 2007 and the first Android smartphone started shipping in 2008.

In Oracle lawsuit to Google, which has been ongoing since August 2010, Oracle accused Android software violates patents of Java computer programming language. Since its acquisition of Sun Microsystems, Oracle is now the legal owner of Java patent.

Chinese hackers were able to obtain more than 10 million yuan (1.6 million U.S. dollars) per year of developing the virus. That value was mentioned more than drug dealers transactions. As reported Micgadget, now there are more than 210,000 infected smartphone of new phones in China. Local technician explains, the virus usually hidden in game application.


As commercial purpose, the creator will attach virus  into game or application in Android mobile phone. Secretly, that malicious program will charge an additional fee when the mobile users playing the games.

The virus creator is said to rent a dedicated server that does this trick in order to suck the pulse of the user when playing the game.

Lava Introduces Xolo X900, First Intel Based Smartphone in the World

After was reported before, smartphone that based Intel Atom "Medfield" was finally launched on the market. Lava International, a mobile handset company from India has introduced the first smartphone based on Intel Atom Meldfield, Xolo X900.


Lava working with Intel launching a smartphone-based Intel Atom and will be available in Indian market on 23 April at price of $ 422.

"Through Xolo X900 smartphone, we are pleased to bring India phone to to meet their needs who want to have phone with fast performance. Xolo X900 initial review was very positive."said Vishal Sehgal, founder and director of Lava International.

As previously reported, Lava decided to produce smartphones based on the design that referenced by Intel. Finally Xolo X900 smartphone was born.

"Companies lose control relating to the use of personal devices. Although they knew the risks, 78% of companies we surveyed allow employees to use their personal devices for work activities," said Eva Chen, CEO of Trend Micro at  Sheraton Hotel, Taipei, Thursday (19/4/2011)

Currently, there are many employees start using Android or iPhone device. In fact it also rise higher security threat.

"We saw a 400% surge in infections in Android platform last 3 months. iPhone is also increasingly threatened. Our customer began to realize to protect the data on the device and verify that it is clean before being allowed to connect to corporate network," he added.
